It’s been a tough year for Blues alumni. With Duff Scott, Charlie Bender, and Bill Tieland passing away earlier in the year, we now add the name of Ron Mussieux. Ron passed away on September 30. Ron grew up in Westmount and became friends with Dave Smith at an early age. They played hockey together and were also part of the 1969 North Glenora Blues Canada Games team. In his professional work, Ron was the curator of Geology at the Royal Alberta Museum for thirty-two years. Ron was a published author. He co-wrote A Traveller’s Guide to Geological Wonders in Alberta in 1998. Ron was a loyal and dedicated member of the North Glenora Blues and will be missed.
On Friday, December 12th, Bonnie Night 53 takes place in Edmonton. This remarkable yearly event brings the Blues together for a night of camaraderie, fellowship, and good stories. Undoubtedly there will be a moment held for Duff, Charlie, Bill, and Ron.
A new documentary about Blues founder John Tayler has been released called From There And Back Again. This compelling documentary tells John’s story from growing up in Edmonton to his three and half years in a Japanese Prisoner of War camp. There is a segment of the film that focuses on the North Glenora Blues. Thanks to Doug Parsons, Russ McFall, and Dave Smith for their participation as well as other Blues who were able to attend the Edmonton film shoot last August.

Lastly, the National Lacrosse League recently announced that a regular season game will be held in Edmonton on Friday, January 16 at Rogers Place. Watch for further news.
